EAST BRIDGEWATER — Police Chief Paul O’Brien and Fire Chief Timothy Harhen would like to invite the public to attend the Town’s annual 9/11 memorial ceremony at the East Bridgewater 9/11 Memorial site.
WHEN:
Saturday, Sept. 11 at 8:45 a.m.
WHERE:
East Bridgewater Memorial site, 175 Central St.
WHAT:
The East Bridgewater Police and Fire Departments will host the memorial service in honor of the victims of 9/11 and in particular, East Bridgewater native and Secret Service Master Special Officer Craig Miller, who died in New York City on Sept. 11, 2001.
The memorial, originally dedicated on Sept. 11, 2016, was built in honor of Officer Miller. It was built through the volunteer efforts of several East Bridgewater residents, including Joel Thomas, Tim Sands, the Kiwanis Club and many others.
MSO Miller’s father and brother will be present for the event this year, along with local first responders and a representative from the U.S. Secret Service.
Any questions about the event can be directed to East Bridgewater Police at 508-378-7223 or East Bridgewater Fire at 508-378-2071.
“On the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, it is more important than ever to honor the lives of those we lost on that fateful day,” Chief Harhen said. “Today we honor their memory, as well as those who continue to carry the weight of the attacks to this day.”
“The Town of East Bridgewater has a history of honoring the sacrifices made by first responders, and we will never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice on Sept. 11, 2001,” Chief O’Brien said. “This memorial is just one of the many ways we will keep them in our thoughts and ensure their legacies lives on.”
