EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Timothy Harhen reports that the East Bridgewater Fire Department and mutual aid rescued a horse that was submerged in the mud Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 5:42 p.m., East Bridgewater Fire received a report of a horse that was stuck in the mud at an address on Central Street.
Firefighters responded and Capt. Jeffrey Kelley requested the Plymouth County Large Animal Rescue Team to assist. The team responded to the Central Street location with a group of trained large animal rescue specialists at 6:35 p.m.
East Bridgewater firefighters and the Large Animal Rescue Team used special equipment to extricate the horse from the mud and get it back on its feet.
The horse was safely back in its barn at 7:15 p.m.
“I would like to thank the Large Animal Rescue Team for its hard work and dedication assisting the residents of Plymouth County, as well as the fire service, in order to successfully resolve these types of rescue calls,” said Chief Harhen.
