When can I obtain an open burning permit?
An open burning permit may be obtained beginning January 1. The last day to obtain an open burning permit is May 1. The open burning season runs annually from January 15 until May 1.
How long is the open burning permit good for?
A permit is given for the season. Each day a homeowner wishes to conduct open burning, you must log into your eastbridgewater.firepermits.com account and activate your burn to see if activation of the permit will be granted due to atmospheric and fire safety conditions on that particular day. If that is the case, permit will then be activated.
Where may I obtain an open burning permit?

I don’t have access to a computer or e-mail, where can I apply?
You may obtain an open burning permit at the Fire Department during normal business hours.
What is the cost of the permit?
There is no fee for the permit.
I obtained an open burning permit how do I activate it?
An open burning permit must be activated daily. The permit will deactivate at the end of the day, until you wish to activate the permit again another day.

Open Air Burning Information
The Burning Season runs from January 15th to May 1st of each year, as allowed by the Department of Environmental Protection.
Burning may only be conducted from January 15th to May 1st between the hours of 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Burning may not be started before 10:00 am or after 2:00 pm.
Fires must be completely out by 4:00 pm.
All burning must be at least 75 feet from any dwelling.
All material must be burned on the property that it comes from.
You MAY burn brush, cane, and forestry debris.
You MAY NOT burn leaves, grass, hay, stumps, building debris, rubbish or materials from commercial or industrial land clearing. Permits must be renewed each day.
If the permit was issued on-line, it can be renewed on-line by following the link provided when first issued.
If the permit was issued at the fire station, you must call 508-378-2071 each day you want to burn, after 9:45 am.
You must have a charged hose line that reaches around the entire area where you are burning.
Someone must be in attendance at all times while the fire is burning.
You are responsible for your fire and any damage it causes.
